I Choose You, Jesus

I wish you could be a fly in the room whenever I am worshipping and singing at the top of my lungs crying to Jesus and telling him “I choose you, Jesus. Over everything, over everyone, I choose you”

I am certain this is also you, you have worshipped, cried, made promises, without really taking a thought on the weight of your utterances.

Very recently I was confronted with a situation and the Holy Spirit said to me, “you have sang about how I come first. How you want to see me and about how nothing else compares to me. But right now, your actions and your heart reflect the entire opposite.”

I felt bad because I knew he was right. Even worse that I couldn’t really condition my heart to yearn for God and God alone. It was frustrating because more than anything else, I want my only gaze to be on Jesus, but the enemy keeps taking the desires of my heart and magnifies them above Christ. In that moment, the Word of the Lord became to me like a mirror and I saw my true state. I knew then that only by his mercies can I long for him and him alone.

A carnal man cannot yearn for that which is spiritual.

Apostle Paul made a very profound declaration in the book of Philippians

“though I also might have confidence in the flesh. If anyone else thinks he may have confidence in the flesh, I more so: circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of the Hebrews; concerning the law, a Pharisee; concerning zeal, persecuting the church; concerning the righteousness which is in the law, blameless. But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death,”

‭‭Philippians‬ ‭3:4–10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The inquisition you have to make today is this:

When the princes of this age flaunt their riches and glory before you, do you pick Jesus or have you found a gospel that allows you pick riches over Christ?

When the storms of life come at you, do you magnify them and run from pillar to post looking for alternative solutions or do you run to Christ the only one who is truly able to deliver to the uttermost?

Does your wisdom seem to trump the wisdom of Christ? Do you always go in the way that YOU have designed or do you WAIT for direction from the Lord?

Do you really count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ

Is Jesus truly your all in all? Or do you say that just because Hillsong worship sang about it?

Please know today that God notes your every word, your every promise even if they were said whilst you were worshipping.

He wants you to make good on your promises to him.

Choose Jesus.
